D-litter at the Young Dogs Day of the Dutch Chow Chow Club

Every year in September the Dutch Chow Chow Club organises the Young Dogs Day. This is not an official show, but all attending young Chow Chows (from 3 to 24 months) are reviewed. For some Chow-owners it is their first step before entering a "real" show.

Four of Chimay's puppies were there and her sister Ginger (Xin-Feng's Charming Ginger). The four "D's" attending were the smooth female Demi (Xin-Feng's Demeter), the rough females Desna (Xin-Feng's Desdemona) and Demi (Xin-Feng's Draupadi) and the smooth male Dao (Xin-Feng's Dao).

July 2008, month of the Dahlia

There were a lot of flowers in the garden this July. The Dahlia's were on their best and the Yucca flowered for the first time.

Cloudburst

Saturday we had a cloudburst. At the end of the afternoon it started raining and then it started pooring. In my blue bucket in the garden was about 8 centimeter (a little over 3 inches) water.
The sewers could not drain al this excess water, so the road at our front looked like this:

On the other side it was the same, a flooded street:

Some ground had disappeared next to our house, but we had a bag of sand and closed the gap with it. Some others in out neighborhod were not so lucky, big gaps next to houses and in roads. Even some basements were flooded. The fire-brigade pumped a lot of water.

A few hours later the roads were dry again.

a very special day

Today is a very special day, ten years ago our first litter was born, Xin-Feng's A-litter. Here the first photo I took from Pandora and her puppies.

Some sad news too, Xin-Feng's Argos died last month. After we left Rotterdam we lost contact with Argos owners, a mutual friend called today and told the sad news.

I don't like showing and most of the people who have puppies from us are not into showing either.
But one of the pups of our last litter went to a Shiba Inu breeder who often goes to shows. Ilone went with Demi (Xin-Feng's Demeter) to some local shows and did well. One time 4th of all pups and at an other show even best pup!

Last weekend was the outdoor show in Uden and Demi got BOB (Best Of Breed) over a male from the Champions class! So she has her first leg towards becoming a Dutch Champion. She is the first female to take BOB this year. We are sooo proud!
